“May December” co-stars Julianne Moore and Charles Melton have not shied away from showing their love for each other during this year’s awards season. The pair, who play a controversial married couple at the center of Todd Haynes’ latest film, showed up to the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday night with fan-made t-shirts of each other.
Each of the t-shirts feature a variety of photos of the respective stars in their various projects. Melton’s shirt includes swoon-worthy photos from him on the set of “Riverdale, “The Sun Is Also a Star” and his own personal social media photos. Printed on Moore’s shirt are stills from some her most famous films, such as “Far From Heaven,” “Magnolia” and “Still Alice,” for which she earned her first Oscar in 2014.
The best part? You can buy your own fan t-shirt on Etsy for only $25 a pop — and customize them with any color and font of your choosing.
“May December,” also starring Natalie Portman, is based loosely on the true story of Mary Kay Letourneau, an American teacher charged with having a sexual relationship with one of her 12-year-old students. The film follows Hollywood actor Elizabeth Berry (Portman) who is tasked with portraying Letourneau stand-in Gracie Atherton-Yoo (Moore) on screen. Elizabeth gets the chance to spend time with Gracie to better research her role, and delves into her convoluted family ties, a family that consists of Gracie, her young husband Joe Yoo (Melton) and the baby they conceived when Joe was only 13 years old and Gracie gave birth to behind bars.
The fiIlm, which premiered at Cannes before hitting Netflix in November, received three nominations at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards, including for Best Original Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor for Melton and Best Supporting Actress for Moore.
